You know what's sad?

The overwhelming majority of my list would be "trucks used to haul motorcycles"

I'm considering a 911 in about a year when I make captain though.

And this isn't counting the occasional minibike and stuff.

oh, and this surprises me not even slightly.

the 911 is a pilot's car- nakedly unforgiving of the slightest mistake.

what era 911? i vote 993; new enough for modern tech/electronics, but before they got fugly. c4 would be my choice, personally.

993 seconded. Air-cooled! And that 993 smell. Though as a warning, the steering wheel isn't quite centered compared to the driver's seat; most people don't care but it drives others batty. And the circulation system sucks ass: it's pretty much impossible to aim the vents so you actually feel the air. But otherwise, it's hard to come up with real complaints.

And yeah. Perhaps I'm biased towards these cars, but I don't necessarily think it's a BAD thing.

betternewthings at 2007-09-23 14:54 (UTC) (Link)
That, and that 993 repair bill. Which is the one thing that's making me hold off on it.

Well, that and my desire to not spend the money.
betternewthings at 2007-09-23 14:46 (UTC) (Link)
That's the thing. If I start driving to work in a 911, I'm gonna be that guy. I might as well call myself Quagmire.

I like the 993. It's the best-looking one ever made. Thankfully the 964-and-up ones have the Weissach axle that makes it a much less darwin-o-rific automobile.

The 996, while ugly, drives better though - and is actually cheaper. (Which tempts me, as I'm Chinese)

Still, it's a big check to write, and part of me would rather have the money sitting in my investments.
