Yes you could say his shit is growing up in some ways, but he still tries to play the woe is me at age what? 40ish? Eh.

see, the reason this album got me interested again was it struck me as a lot less "woe is me" and more "woe is us".

the musical ideas may not be anything that wasn't already done by speedy j/converter over the past 5 years; i can't argue that the glitch/noise feel of the album isn't "inspired" in that way (to put it charitably); but i was still glad to see him try his hand at a genre i've liked for a long time.

Was it such a fuck you experience that he's not done it since?

maybe it's that, or maybe he doesn't want to become the thing he hates?

Truth be told I think he waffles on what he is and wants. Not to say I'm perfect. Not to say you are. Hell we're all probably like that. But since he's in the spotlight - he has to be better. =)
