Jason,

I thought you should know this in case [dad] can't get hold of you at this time.

[dad] called [brother] last night & told him that he is undergoing treatment for a brain tumor, and that they expect that he has 3-5 years to live with the treatment program they are putting him into. He is still undergoing tests, but doesn't expect the prognosis to change significantly.

Love,

[mom]

and this is to remind me that things could always be worse

Oh, man.

What a way to find out news like that, too.

*hug*

I hope the doctors are wrong.

As for the news item... there frequently were wood chippers chipping near where I grew up. I used to wonder/worry/have nightmares about being chewed up by one. Nasty things.

But...I'm really sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope the treatments work better than they're thinking they will.

If you want to talk... you know where to find me, yes?

oh wow. but as mentioned by someone else here, doctors have been wrong and with treatment he could even outlive them. damn, wish i could think of something more comforting to say.

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON IN THIS WORLD?!?!?!

Cancer...tumors...it seems they are everywhere. What is the meaning of all this?

Dude, you know that I know what you are going through right now. If you ever need to talk to me, let me know and I'll give you a ring.

I'll be thinking of you and your dad.

On a side note, my dad came home today after 3 weeks in the hospital and now, behind me, there is the constant gasp of an oxygen tank that helps him breathe. It's a little unnerving and it's been a weird morning...

Take care mister.

hmmm- well thats certainly not good news
...
but- for your dad, for everyone; it could always be tomorrow- not "3-5 years from now"-
you never know what is going to happen to you-
so i dunno- that's how i try to live- like a bus mught smack me down tomorrow
weedlover at 2003-06-17 15:36 (UTC) (Link)
Unfortunately, I've been smacked in the face with this. I knew my dad was not living healthy ... but I never would have guessed that he would die so young.

Couldn't she have told you in person? That's cold. I'm sorry. I had a coworker with a brain tumor that was told he had a month, and that was several years ago and he's still around.
