when at one point, someone says, "X == true", and then at another, "X != true and it never was", i'm given an excuse to wonder which time they were lying, and why. this is without exception an opportunity i find difficult to ignore.
without being willing or able to direct interrogatives at the party issuing the conflicting statements, i'm left to my own assumptions and conclusions. either they were lying at the time, or they're altering their memories so that their own personal reality works a little better for them.
