just heard about the reversal on the Pledge of Allegiance ruling... *shakes head*

Sometimes I wish I could ask the same question in reverse. Ah... the painful joys of the deep south.

God I know. I love how Bush responded, saying something to the effect of how he was disgusted and he was going to see to it that new judges would be appointed who had some sense in them. He was ashamed at how we have strayed from our American traditions and abolished something that is apart of our American roots. Uh yeah, slavery, concentration camps and "witch" hunts were *also* apart of our American roots. Sure, let's all go back to that too. Not all traditions are good.

not only that- but he's simply incorrect. the people who founded america were not only Christian- some were Deist, some were Unitarian, and i think there may have been some atheists among the group as well; which is why they all *came here*- they couldn't live happily in England because of their beliefs.

now this guy Michael Newdow is getting death threats at his house because he's trying to return the Pledge to the wording it had 50 years ago, when "under god" was added at the height of the McCarthy anti-communist frenzy to unite us against the "godless communist hordes".
