first, qwest, I LOVE YOU, for leaving my torrent/soulseek traffic alone.
a solid 100k/sec down is really all i ask for out of a broadband connection.

---

second, i've done some bitching about tv shows lately.

tv shows i do not hate:
house, MD- if it's medically inaccurate, they've done enough research that the mistakes are over my head. and the main character is verbally ruthless, which is really my favorite part.
burn notice- equal parts intel, tactics, and the incredibly hot ex-gf. i'd do things to her that are probably illegal in amsterdam.
dexter- murderous sociopath, working in a police department, focuses his intent on other killers. can't go wrong.
californication- a great commentary on LA, and the only chance duchovny has had to actually act.
numb3rs- maybe the least of what i've listed here, but they're creative with each ep's plotline, and it's a crime-drama that tries to make you think, if nothing else.

and thanks to bittorrent, i can enjoy all of the above without commercials. god bless the internet.

---

the third is tool's latest album, 10,000 days.

i felt notably unimpressed with this album when it was released last year. i don't remember why, exactly, but i just didn't give it a chance.

now that i've put myself through the past year's experience, vicarious, jambi, and right in two speak to me on levels i can't explain here.

Have you read the Dexter books by Jeff Lindsay? They are fantastic! The first season/first book are pretty similar, but the second book takes a route that they won't be going on the show. I'm just now about to start the third book, which looks to be pretty awesome as well.

The first three are three of my favorites too.

&It's funny, I haven't found anyone else to be talking about Burn Notice (not coming back until next summer) or Dexter (not sure when it returns).

Are you getting these off a site you register for, or somewhere else? I recently lost my place...they shut down.

Dexter's second season premiere is actually tonight, but the first two episodes were already released as torrents so I've seen them already.

My favorite torrent indexes?

http://www.mininova.org/ << the best!
http://www.ipodnova.tv/ << good if you have an iPod because all files are .mp4 format!
http://www.torrents.to/ << A good site that searches all the other good sites. I use this one for obscure audiobooks.
http://btjunkie.org/ << A last resort, because its not as awesome.

last night i wore my BDU field jacket when i went out drinking (it's the warmest overcoat i own).

the first time i went up to the bar to order a jack&coke, the patrons cleared out in a matter of seconds.

this inspires me with a vitriolic sense of contempt; both for obvious reasons, and because none of them had the nerve to actually step up and engage in debate, or even say what they were thinking. fucking cowards.

especially ironic considering how camo clothes and patrol caps are now "fashion statements" around here.

but hey, at least i know what to wear when i want some personal space on the bus.

Do that here in Texas, even in ultra-liberal Austin, and you won't pay for a single drink all night.

Which is part of something I'm realizing lately. I dislike most urban liberals as people far more than I dislike their politics. I also dislike smug and whiny urban libertarians just as much.
