so. looks like i'll be following scosol's advice.

a year and a day after i lost my last job, i've gained two new ones.

this morning i got a phone call saying i'd been hired on as an evening-shift tech support rep here. this is very good, because once i am a permanent employee (after 90 days), classes are free. since they have an MBA program, i foresee being employed there through the rest of the decade.

at noon i had a 3rd interview for a financial_advisor & mortgage/insurance/securities_broker position here, and out of 78 applicants i was one of four chosen. this is a commission-only, self-driven, "make your own hours" kind of gig, and i'm very glad i landed the other job first as i now don't need to depend on only commission for income.

it strikes me that this is the first time in... a few years... that i've been happy in a "situation" context, rather than a momentary one.

i have steady income, a thoroughly enjoyable car that's paid for, a cost of living factor that seems ridiculously low compared to what it was in california, and the opportunity to get myself back into six-figure yearly income by summer.

in short, i have nothing more to ask of life.

hope you're all well too.

I am so happy for you. Now, when do you and Emily move into a bigger place so that I can come sleep on your couch for a weekend? :P

I really am happy for you. This is .. monumental Jason. I want to be you right now -- or at least I want to be in that place where everything seems to fall together. *mwah*

coolin- yeah, i dunno what the financial thing is exactly, but making your own hours like that allows you to concentrate on promising things, and just not pay attention to the rest :)

yeah... i poked around for just a sec and found this:

http://www.worldfinancialgroup.com/WFG_Public/section.b.offer/B.2.careerOpp/b.2.CareerOpp.asp#

Is that what you're doing, or are you working for someone who is doing that?

a few of the things i heard during interviews made me think "MLM" as well, but after asking, none of the real warning flags were there- there's no buy-in, an associate doesn't cut his commission with anyone, and recruiting isn't part of the gig unless you want to build a team.

but anyway, more on this in my next post.

My roomy is talking about going to see his bro down in your area. I might tag along and bug you for a day or two then fly back. Wouldn't be until June I don't think.

heh. i've been thinking a lot about various permutations of "turbo + awd", and frankly i think there are better options. i may even end up in another VW after personal obligations are taken care of...

but i did see one for the first time here in scottsdale a couple weeks ago- a black R32 GT-R- and goddamn those things are sexy.

getting closer and closer to done. Feels wierd as hell to think that I am a senior now, only 2 more sems to go.

I might make a stop in Pheonix for a day or two this summer, want to get together for coffee or a beer if I do?
